BIG lack of updates to the blog recently. not from a lack of activity but from being HECTIC for the past few months. I started a new job so I no longer work at Honda, and now have weekens free, although I seem to be busier on the weekends now than I was when I worked them, which is bizarre. So here is a quick summary of whats been happening.....

Got asked to design some new clothing for Driftworks and gladly obliged. The design they chose was originally to be used on a cap, however they liked it so much they have used it on their hoodies and mugs so far. And something very special is in the pipeline I hear!

I was then approached to design the 2010 British Drift Championship apparel and merchandise. I submitted several designs and most were chosen. The initial line-up has been really well recieved, with the brief being 'more fashion, less memorabilia'. There will be ongoing work throughout the season with the BDC. I have chosen to brand future design-work under the 'havefun' brand, hopefully this should make my work more recognisable and mean I can come up with some cool collaborations in the future.

I formed alliance with a couple of guys I've known from the car scene for a while and we decided to start up our own drift-blog site. We launched last weekend and it has already receieved 8000 hits in 4 days, which we are really pleased about! You can check it out at Drifted. We managed to strike a deal with the BDC so now all BDC competitors cars were two drifted.com stickers on the wing mirrors, which makes for great publicity!

Okishima Program blew up following our Spring Meet, we got posted on Speedhunters and Hellaflush. Word is that there is potential future work with HF and also Motormavens as a spin off from this. Can't wait!

Well Naomi completely surprised me for Christmas by getting me an all singing and all dancing MacBook Pro along with some other pretty awesome presents [including a Canon Speedlite 430EX] so I'm feeling pretty spoilt. She's an amazing girlfriend!

I love my new MacBook! Its so easy to use, fast and damn sexy looking! Can't believe I waited so long to get one. I was also super impressed by the packaging. Apple always manages to hit you with the 'wow factor' when you open the box. The packaging is a work of art in itself! If your still using a PC and Windows - just try a Mac, seriously.

We have my Dad and his wife Rose over from Thailand for the weekend along with my half sister Coco. We paid a visit to the local Oriental Market to stock up on ingredients for some good Thai home cooking this evening.

This place is stocked with everything you could want from the east.

Japenese section mostly consists on strange baked seafood items.

The confectionary isle is my favourite. Loads of weird and wonderful things to choose from!
I can smell tea on the go and can't wait!

Japspeed S15

Took a trip over to GarageRippleDrift in sleepy Spalding, Lincs last night to get some tyres put on the Origin wheels. I caught Paul Smith and his Dad come-Chief Mechanic Roger putting some finishing touches to his Japspeed Maxxis Tyres S15.

The car started out life as a Spec-S non-turbo Automatic model but was treated to the SR20DET and manual swap by Mitch at Driftgarage during his brief ownership of the car.

The transition from good base-model drift car to full on purpose-built track car, including paintwork has all taken place inside Paul and Roger's modest garage out the back of Roger's house. Note in the picture above the SERIOUS amount of steering lock, this has been achieved by using Japspeed steering arms and ends and some very trick GPSports knuckles which allow for adjustment of the steering pick-up points on the hubs. The front arches have been cut out and 'tubbed' to make the most of this generous extra lock.

As I was visiting Roger was working on the finishing touches of the wiring loom which he assured me was 'just wiring the wipers up'. I'm not sure if he was joking or not, that amount of wires is enough to send me running! The interior is simple and purposeful, a pair of Corbeau seats and powder-coated white Fabricage occupy the main cabin space, meanwhile the stock S15 dash has been modified to accomodate ProSport gauges, which look almost factory!

The car now sports clean white paintwork, a departure from last year's standard Nissan red. Japspeed have been supporting Paul for the last two seasons, I am looking forward to finally seeing the car drifting alongside Danny Ayles' and Shane Lynch's Japspeed S15s in Sunday's BDC Team Event at Norfolk Arena. Danny and Shane's cars are both running high-power RB25 engines from the R33 Skyline so I hope Paul can keep up!

Something tells me he will be able to! The piece-de-resistance takes centre stage when you lift the EPRacing carbon bonnet. The engine is a 2500cc 1JZ lifted from a Toyota Soarer. The turbo is a GT3076R mounted to a Japspeed top-mount manifold and the combination produce 474bhp and 440lb/ft torque, more than enough to chase down the other Japspeed S15s. Sadly more than enough to twist the prop earlier on in the month at Prodrift Round 3 also!

The car is finished externally with some nice touches, red/white rear lenses, carbon bootlid and DMax wide fenders complete the picture.

If you want to see the S15 in action be sure to pop over to Norfolk Arena at the weekend for Round 4 of the British Drift Championship - two days of full on action! Be there Saturday from 6pm for Round4 and Sunday from 10am for the Team Drift Competition!

I got one of the overfenders test fitted tonight. I spent about 10 minutes trimming the HUGE lip down on it, the about 2 hours working out how to remove the rear valance [bonded on you BASTARD] and the standard rear bumper [two of the bolts on each side are well hidden!]. Then about 30 mins lining it up and drilling my lovely car :( Oh well, looks wide now! Other side and sideskirts over the weekend I hope if I get time! Then all the scary cutting of metal underneath.

Notice the way the overs cover right down and under the still at the bottom? They fit PERFECT! Yeh, the copy ones that have recently been produced don't do that - they randomly stop just below the body-line. Crap.

I can't wait to get all the metal underneath out of the way so I can sort out ride height and fitment.

Origin Stylish bumper one fitted! [I have to trim and fit the spare second still]. Only trimming involved was making the openings in the bumper shallower so they cleared the intercooler and piping - fitment around the lights and fenders is awesome!

Excuse the pictures, taken with iPhone rather than fancy camera!

Its actually slightly shallower than my other unknown bumper so it allows me to go lower, hurray!

PS - Yes my bonnet is pissed.

Just finished sorting through my 300+ photos from Barcelona last weekend. Never before have I been on a city break in such beautiful surroundings - really inspirational for anyone interested in design, architecture or photography. We must have walked a marathon three times over during the weekend - by foot is the only way to get around and see as much as possible as all the best stuff is hidden away down side streets and alleyways! Anyway, onto the pictures. If you get a chance - visit this wonderful city.

Its impossible to filter these down any finer! The place is a photographer's dream! I have about 270 you haven't seen yet!

Front got wide

Had a RARE few hours spare tonight so cracked on with fitting the kit.

Old front wings came off and out came a fair amount of Llandow/Lydden/Norfolk from last year.

New wings went on fairly easily, I've never fitted over fenders/front fenders before so it was a learning experience. I did a better job on the passenger side which I did second so I'm going to go back and tweak the driver's side a bit more - I'm a fussy bugger with panel gaps and the driver's side is a 1 or 2mm too close to the bonnet edge but thats easily remedied.

It wasn't until I parked the car up for the evening that I realised I hadn't done the front-most bolt up on the passenger side so the front is dropping down, as shown in this last picture.

Overall I'm very pleased with the fitment and quality of them! A bit more time and they'll be perfect. I would have had them finished by this evening but my car sprung a fuel leak between the hard-line in the bay and the FPR - it was pissing EVERYWHERE! So I had to spend ages fixing that - its OK for now but I really need to source a new section of fuel line.

I also offered the rear fenders up but couldn't do much because I really need the car on the ramp with wheels off to crack on with them. The rear lip on them is HUGE though so needs trimming right down for the wheel fitment I want. The car is going to look so wide from the back with the rear fenders I have and a fairly subtle rear bumper and skirts.:nod:

I was looking through some old photos today and realised just how many sets of wheels I've owned over the last few years.

Modena something split rims - these were 17x8 or something weak and came on my S14. I sprayed them green after seeing Mark Arcenal's D-Unit S14 rocking the green J-Line wheels.

Enkei Speedlines. 17x9J+22 - I loved these wheels! I ran one into a kerb street drifting and had it repaired then sold them on.

Racing Sparco Pythons - 17x9+22 - I bought these cheap on Ebay as a set of 3. They used stupid internal drive nuts which I didn't trust.

My first set of R33 GTR wheels - I still love GTR's on everything except R33 GTR's! Sprayed them green, they looked cool on my black S14.

Enkei RP-01 - 18x9+22 - Didn't actually even get round to fitting these. Bought them cheap and sold them expensive.

My second set of R33GTR's, sprayed bright white. Seen here with +25mm H&R spacers all round.

Advan AVS Model 5 - I had 5 of these, they came on my PS13. 17x9+22.

Work Rezax - 17x8+10 and 17x9+10 - nice offsets and good dish despite being narrow on the front. Needed a tidy up but I sold them on to Quail as I was too lazy. I know he sold them on too, wonder if they ever made it onto a car?

Rota Torque - 17x9.5+12 - I bought 6 of these as my competition wheels. Cheap, easily replaceable and not bad looking. Still have 4 today.

Work Euroline - 18x9+7 and 18x10+4 - Swapped these for my FC3S, always wanted some Euroline so had to be done! Still have these - fate undecided.

Origin DNA02 - 17x9.5+15 - My new competition wheels. I have 8 of these and I'm soon to order 4 more in 18".

Work Rezax - 18x11+13 and 18x12.5+19 - the daddies. Bought from Yahoo Japan. Will probably sell these on but I NEED to try them on the S13 first.

So yeah, I like wheels :)

Christmas Day was moved in 2009 to 23rd June. Well, it was in my world anyway as it was the day when I FINALLY, after 8 months or so of waiting, got to collect my stuff from Japan.

Bright and breezy I jumped in the car and made the 45 minute journey down the A1 from Peterborough to St Neots to pick up the hire van. I then started the LONG and BORING journey down the A1, M25 and the seemingly endless trip across the country on the M4 to Ninja Tune Factory in Newport, South Wales - where my stuff was being stored.

Three and something hours later I arrive in Newport at NTF's new workshop to be greeted by Lionel, owner of NTF and Julian from Severnside/Driving Sports Pro.

Lionel was in the process of tweaking the tuned SR for this weekend's EDC round at Brands Hatch.

Julian is also sponsored by Origin so the car wears full Origin Agressive aero and Type-II fenders all round. It also rocks a carbon D-Max bonnet, B's Factory spoiler, RYO exhaust and Work XD9s. No fake parts here.

Interior is function-based. A pair of red Bride recliners occupy the BRIGHT red cabin - Kawabata from Driving Sports Japan mixes the colour himself and keeps the ingredients top secret!

The engine is a stroked 2.1 SR fully built with a Neprec head and TD06-25g turbo. It was originally built for drag running 650bhp but has been de-tuned for drift to just 500bhp. Is that all?!

You may notice the drawing on the dash of the gear layout. Naturally this sort of power would make cheese of a standard SR gearbox so this car runs a Trust/Greddy dogbox. £5k + VAT to you or I.

The PS13 wasn't the only nice metal at NTF - this AE86 runs a high compression turbo'd 4AG. You may recognise this car from AE86 battle in the Touge Heroes' DVD.

Dan Joyce from Dirty Sanchez' Datsun pick-up was also at NTF getting an engine transplant - look forward to seeing this done!

So after nosing around and chatting for a while I loaded the van up with my stuff and set off home.

I think old people are actually AWESOME. I was speaking to some old people today and I realised how much I love old people. They are pretty much always friendly, pretty much always polite and pretty much always really interesting to talk to. I strongly believe in respecting your elders.

What worries me is the way non-old people* are in the modern age. Non-old people are increasingly moody, selfish and ignorant.

It worries me because some day they will be someone else's 'old people'.

At the same time I'm writing this some 15 year old fat chav gets airtime on TV because she got pregnant at 14 and in the 15 year old father-to-be's words 'I don't care about anyone else'. Pretty much sums up the current generation's ethos.

Long live old people.

*I didn't want to say 'young people' because that makes me sound old.

Finally got some work done on the S13. New rear subframe with Japspeed alloy solid bushes on. Driftworks camber arms on, Japspeed toe arms on, polybushed the entire rear end too sooooooo should be nice and positive to drive now rather than all the sloppy standard HICAS bollocks.

OK so its been ages since I updated this. I've not really done much to the PS13, can't find the motivation at the moment but hopefully I'll blitz it soon. Still waiting on all my parts from Japan is bugging me. I need some good news!

Pulled the car into the workshop to start doing a few bits to it. Mostly need to get the new dashboard in and get the interior painted.

I also removed the loom for the climate control to chop it up and extenderate it at home for the relocation in the armrest. No pictures, wires aren't sexy.

So anyway, I was down Adrenaline Alley in Corby on Tuesday, probably the best indoor BMX park in the UK. I was throwing down some pretty sick 'falling offs' and '180 sitting around chattings' when in rolls Mark Webb. He's pretty handy on a bike.

We watched, decided we sucked, and left.

Busy day! Pick up new dog from kennels, show the family, get him home, rush him outside everytime we think he needs to be outside. Over to Stanground for a 5-a-side football tournament with work [got to the semis], come home, more rushing around. I AM DONE!

I'm gonna ache tomorrow, should really do some work on something to do with the car. Might see if I can throw my spare subframe together.
